The purpose of the council is to encourage and promote art projects in Peach County and surrounding areas. The need for an arts council in our community became evident after many years and events where local artists have been featured. In addition to the Council we've also seen a need for an area where these local artists can display and sell their works as well as share their passion for their art form by holding classes and workshops. We're proud and excited to announce that the council will be opening The Cow and the Calf Art Gallery very soon in the Peach Outlet Shops located right off I-75 in Byron, Georgia.
It is our hope to be able to offer classes in all art forms ~ painting, pottery, photography, performance arts and more! If you are an artist and interested in displaying and selling your work please send us an email with a couple pictures of your art. Although the space we have will hold many artists we will be limited in what we can accept. We'd like to offer a variety of art forms and therefore all artists wanting to be considered will have their pictures go through a committee for gallery acceptance.
We also invite you to become a member of the Council! There are several levels of membership from student to Diamond level and we'll have those membership forms available here and through email very soon.

- Monday Art & Design for Kids Classes being offered by Eileen Treaure Starting March 25, 2010 Contact Eileen at 988-9313 for more information and to sign up
- Monday Art & Design for Kids 10:30a.m. - 11:15a.m. Grades K-3 Explore great art from Old Masters like Vermeer, Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Warhol & more! Hands-on projects include drawing, painting, collage and photography.
- Monday Art & Design for Kids 1:00p.m. - 2:00p.m. Grades 4 - 7 More detailed discussion of Old Masters mentioned above. Students learn to critique art and are encouraged to do further study on their own. Projects will include drawing, painting, collage & photography with more emphasis on color, line and principles of design
- Monday Art & Design for KIDS 3:00p.m. - 4p.m. Grades 8 - 12 Introduction to elements and principles of design and how to recognize them in the Old Masters. We will apply these principles of art projects (drawing, painting, collage & photography) as well as discuss how design is found in everyday objects & interiors. No prior experience is needed, however, students should be able to focus and be detail-oriented.
- Oil Glazing Technique Studio - Explore the pure magic of glazing in oils. Create glowing tones and silken surfaces. We will work together beginning with the under painting followed by multiple color glazes. View and discuss elements and principles of design and color as seen in Old Master's paintings.
